SPP Service Centres awarded SKF certification

  • 01-Oct-2013

SPP Pumps is delighted to announce a global strategic partnership with SKF Bearings, which will see all five of the company’s UK Service Centres given official certification as an SKF Certified Rebuilder of Pumps. Only SPP UK has this accreditation.

SPP Pumps is committed to providing the best pumping solutions to its customers, and part of this commitment involves developing close relationships with its supplier network. This recent partnership will see SPP become the first port of call for SKF customers needing pump repairs and services.

John Morgan, Service Centre Aftermarket BDM for SPP, explains: “This strategic partnership is something a little different to what we normally do, it’s very exciting for both companies. There is real synergy between us and SKF – we both operate on a global scale, we’re both committed to providing the proven quality products and solutions, and we both want to maximise opportunities that will better our businesses as well as our customer support.”

SKF operates a Certified Rebuilder Programme on a worldwide scale, and SPP’s key locations around the globe will support the programme at an international level. SPP’s development in aftermarket support will also be enhanced with the opening of a number of new manufacturing and service centres.

By partnering with SKF, SPP will get the benefit of working directly alongside a world renowned manufacturer, improving procurement sourcing and honing the skills of its own field and service centre staff, providing the company with technical advantages over competitors.

John continues: “This partnership will enable us to utilise SKF expertise to train and develop our staff to expand beyond our current capabilities. Gleaning knowledge on the latest technology and what’s available from SKF can only go towards giving us an even better competitive edge. We can reap the benefits from this alliance – meaning we can continue to offer customers the best solutions and dedicated expertise where it really matters.”

SPP’s intention is to have all five UK Centres accredited, with SPP Engineering Services in Hyde being first in line. It will be followed by Coleford, Northern Ireland, Eastleigh and Glasgow. SKF will also be appointing a member of its own team to work directly with SPP. A visit to support its plants in India and further develop the global relationship is already in process.

Tim Winstanely, Operations Manager at Hyde, commented: “We welcome this partnership and see it as a great opportunity. It provides us with value, knowledge and training to further develop our team and our services. We can pass this directly on to our customers, so everyone will benefit.”

John Mason, After Sales Manager at SKF commented: “Though our conversations with SPP and seeing its facilities first hand, we have full confidence that this partnership will prove fruitful for both parties. We see the UK being the testing ground, following which we intend to expand the partnership programme worldwide.”

It’s exciting times for both SPP and KBL. This is a true global relationship, and one that will reap benefits for all involved.

Three reasons to choose SPP as a SKF Certified rebuilder

  1. The right know-how. Since 40% to 70% of failures are related to bearings, it's no surprise that high-quality bearings are key for reliability. But the right bearings alone won't deliver the results you need. How parts are installed, lubricated, handled, stored, aligned, transported, and maintained is equally important. At SKF-certified shops, technicians complete extensive training in analysis, bearing installation, lubrication systems, and condition monitoring technologies-giving them the skills they need to perform optimal diagnoses and repairs.

  1. The right resources. SKF Certified Rebuilders have access to our unparalleled collection of parts, tools, and technical support. They're kept up to date with the latest technologies and best practices. And they're empowered to perform root-cause failure analysis and troubleshooting. In short, they have the resources they need to do your repair right.

  1. The right approach. Becoming SKF certified isn't a one-time process. Rather, all SKF Certified Rebuilders must complete regular audits to ensure compliance with our rigorous standards. They must also meet requirements for continuous improvement and competence development. Because when we improve, so do your bottom-line benefits-including enhanced performance and reduced cost of ownership.
