SPP Pumps spread community spirit with Great Oaks Dean Forest Hospice

  • 22-Dec-2020

Earlier this year in May, SPP Pumps Coleford organised a special delivery of delicious cream teas to the patients of Great Oaks Dean Forest Hospice. The Great Oaks Hospice provides supportive, palliative and end of life care programmes for various ongoing and changing needs of the community with all services provided free of charge.

Great Oaks is situated close to our main manufacturing centre at Coleford, and like so many of hospices nationwide, they are unable to take day patients due to the current situation. Instead, they were doing home visits at this time, and on this occasion, with their visit, they provided each patient with a special package which includes all the necessary produce to create a scrummy cream tea with a little help from SPP Pumps.

On the 22nd May, our very own Laura was delighted to be able to drop off these special packs in the morning to Great Oaks for distribution to patients who would normally attend the Hospice as a day patient, but who were currently being visited at home.

Each cream tea was accompanied with a greetings card "A little something to brighten your day". All the effort was most definitely worthwhile when you hear such grateful feedback from Great Oaks: “Thank you so much SPP Pumps LTD for the lovely gesture which meant so much to us all at Great Oaks and our patients who were delighted at receiving such a thoughtful gift too, it really brightened their day.”

Ongoing support for when they need it most

Our support continued for Great Oaks Hospice by providing fruit baskets to their patients. It is these contributions that can help make a small difference to those who had been affected most in this local community by isolation over the spring and summer.

Not so long ago back in October, we also provided prizes for a raffle run in aid of National Hospice Week. There were some super prizes to be won such as a Fitbit, Champagne and a super Hamper. A fantastic £250.00 was raised altogether all of which will go towards helping the Hospice continue to provide outstanding supportive care programmes to the Forest of Dean Community throughout recent unprecedented events.
