SPP Pumps, leading global manufacturer of centrifugal pumps and systems, has been recognised for its organisational management systems with the award of an EFQM Committed to Excellence 1 Star.
EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management) works with businesses to drive performance improvements through a management framework used by more than 30,000 organisations throughout Europe.
From training and assessment tools to gathering and sharing good practice, EFQM’s vision is to create a world striving for sustainable excellence - and it is on a mission to inspire organisations to actually achieve this.
Last month (March 2015) saw an independent EFQM validator review a number of improvement projects being undertaken across various areas within SPP Pumps. As a result, the company has been awarded the EFQM Committed to Excellence 1 Star.
Projects reviewed included:
- Customer Survey: Using results to drive improvement
- Developing a Continuous Improvement Culture
- Implementing a Sales and Operations Planning process
Particular recognition was given to the emphasis on co-operation through using cross functional teams, best practice visits and the involvement of employees from all areas and levels of the business.
Quoting from the official validation report Mark Webster, EFQM, said:
''I was very impressed by the excellent focus there is within SPP Pumps on continuous improvement. Well regarded business tools such as the Hoshin based X-matrix and seven key improvement workstreams have been identified and are being implemented.
''Staff with whom I spoke seemed engaged and genuinely enthused by early initiatives such as self-managed teams. Good practice visits to other organisations are also taking place, and these are being carefully selected to focus on targeted improvement areas.''
