BACKGROUND
A solution was required for a complex project offshore Angola.
OBJECTIVE
The project, Kaminho FPSO, is the conversion of a VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier) to an FPSO by Saipem, for Total Energies, to be installed offshore Angola.
SOLUTION
SPP provided 3x GL18 3-stage submersible Fire Water Pumps, each with dedicated 2.4 MW diesel generator sets to the project, with the generator sets located inside hazardous area rated fire and blast proof enclosures.
The submersible motors will be inverted (above the pump) and are installed in a manner designed to allow operation in a worst-case damage scenario for the vessel, in which a large list angle has to be considered.
The packages showcase SPP’s ability to manufacture and package large-scale projects to some of the most technically demanding applications and customers in the world.
