BLACK POINT POWER STATION - FIRE
PROJECT DETAILS
Project Name: Black Point Power Station
Project Type: Seawater Transfer Pump
Location: Hong Kong
BACKGROUND
Black Point 3,225MW CCGT Power Station is one of the largest gas-fired combined-cycle power stations in the world, using ultra-low-sulphur diesel as a backup fuel source, and is the first power station in Hong Kong to use natural gas for power generation.
OBJECTIVE
The Black Point China Light & Power (CLP) team required a replacement horizontal split case electric pumpset for main seawater transfer application. The new unit was to be capable of handling a demand of approx. 14,000 litres per minute (@ 8.00 bar pressure) and was intended to replace a previously supplied SPP Pump that has been in successful operation for approx. 32 years without issue.

SOLUTION
SPP Pumps Limited keep detailed and accurate records of all previously supplied pumps. After careful examination of the previously supplied package details, SPP Pumps recreated the original pumpset using modern manufacturing techniques, enhanced materials and current design principles. The resulting package enabled the new system to be installed with almost no site adaptation required, thus keeping client site work cost to an absolute minimum. The new package will serve Black Point Power Station for many years into the future.
Pumps/pump package: BS10C Hydrostream 10″ split case pump in zinc free bronze / stainless steel materials of construction, coupled to a WEG 355kW, TEFV, 6,600v electric motor.
