BACKGROUND
The cooling medium pump is installed on Repsol’s Bleo Holm FPSO and was originally supplied by Ingersoll Dresser. The pump was removed following a report of drop in performance.
OBJECTIVE
Strip, Inspect & Report on Pump Condition at SPP Aberdeen Service Centre. Bead blast, Dye Pen & Dimensionally Inspection was carried out and it was found that the pump had a bearing failure which subsequently caused further damage to the pump including heat discolouring and distorting on the shaft and bearing end caps. SPP was to review and utilise as much customer-held stock as possible. Repair, Rebuild, Hydro Test & Package for long-term storage.
SOLUTION
- Re-Engineer replacement shaft
- Replace bearings, bearing end caps, oilers, gaskets and a selection of fasteners
- Machine impeller shoulder to remove wear and dress vanes
- Replace casing and impeller wear rings
- Skim clean up casing flanges
- Check balance impellers
- Review customer-held stock and utilise consumables kit and mechanical seal
